A fractional CMO is a senior marketing lead you bring in part-time, on a monthly retainer, instead of hiring a full-time executive or adding another agency. I do this for Shopify and DTC brands in the US and Canada. I own the plan and the budget, and I run Meta, Google and Klaviyo myself.

A fractional CMO owns your growth plan and is accountable for the numbers, part-time. That means deciding where the budget goes, what to test, which channels to push, and making sure ads, email and creative work as one system.
Most fractional CMOs set strategy and hand execution to an agency. I do both. I build the campaigns, brief the creative and set up the email flows myself, which means fewer handoffs, faster decisions and one person accountable for results instead of three vendors pointing at each other.
It fits best when a brand has outgrown the founder running marketing at night, but a full in-house team or a big agency retainer does not make sense yet.
Strategy and execution in one person, so nothing gets lost between the plan and the ad account.
Where the next dollar goes across Meta, Google and email, judged on blended MER and contribution margin, not platform ROAS.
I build and manage the Meta and Google campaigns myself. No account managers, no juniors in between.
1.16 → 2.33 Meta ROASKlaviyo flows, segmentation and campaigns that turn email into a real revenue line.
15% → 30% of revenue, 5+ brandsHooks, offers and briefs for statics, UGC and email. The creative is what moves results now.
Clean tracking and one weekly report tied to revenue and margin. You always know what is working.
I can direct your existing freelancers, designers or agency so everyone pulls in the same direction.
The honest trade-offs, from someone who has paid all three.
| Marketing agency | Full-time CMO | Me, fractional | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | Account managers and juniors | Usually manages others who do it | I do the work myself |
| Cost structure | Retainer, often plus % of spend | Full salary, benefits and equity | Monthly retainer scoped to the work |
| Owner mindset | Optimizes the channel they run | Depends on the hire | 20 years spending my own money |
| Time to impact | Onboarding, then a learning curve | Months to recruit and ramp | Audit in the first two weeks |
| Commitment | Contracts and minimums | Long-term | Flexible, month to month |
Actual dashboards from brands I have run. Nothing here is a template or a stock number.

Sixty minutes on your numbers. You leave with clarity whether or not we work together.
Ads, tracking, email, site and margins. A short, prioritized list of what to fix first.
Targets, budget split and the few moves that matter most, agreed with you.
I execute, you get one clear weekly report, and we adjust as the data comes in.

I started with Mozaik Underwater Cameras, scaled it to 7 figures and sold it. I built Brillianteers to mid-7-figures in one of the most competitive niches online, and I still run Hoodie Lab. I have bought and sold eCommerce businesses, and I manage $500K+ a month in ad spend across live accounts.
“Tal is an expert in his field, with an analytical, data-driven approach and industry awareness that sets him apart. After years of poor results with various ad agencies, Tal has been a breath of fresh air. His experience running his own e-commerce brands gives him a unique appreciation for the macro aspects of online business, which is hard to find elsewhere (trust me, we have tried!). If you need a dedicated eCommerce expert with in-depth digital marketing knowledge, Tal is your man.”
“Tal is fantastic. Knowledgeable, helpful and very to the point. I have learned a lot during our coaching sessions that I believe will genuinely set us up for success across email marketing, as well as Meta and Google ads. Tal has always been willing to answer questions outside of our sessions and offer extra support during difficult times for sales. I'd recommend Tal to anyone looking for a seasoned professional who genuinely cares.”
“We had the pleasure of working with Tal to launch and test our Meta ad campaigns, and the results have been outstanding. From the moment he joined, it was clear we were working with a true expert in eCommerce marketing. He conducted a thorough audit, refined our targeting, optimized creatives, and structured our campaigns for maximum efficiency — measurable improvements while keeping our media budget stable. If you're looking for a consultant who genuinely cares about your business and delivers real results, Tal is the person to hire.”
Straight answers, the way you would ask them.
A senior marketing leader who works with your brand part-time on a retainer. They own the marketing plan, budget and results without the cost of a full-time executive. I do this for Shopify and DTC brands, and unlike most fractional CMOs I also run the ads and email myself.
Most fractional CMOs work on a monthly retainer. I scope mine after a free audit call, based on how much I run hands-on versus advise. For ad-hoc work my rate is $200/hr. Compared with a full-time CMO salary plus an agency retainer, it is usually a fraction of the cost.
An agency is good at running one channel. A fractional CMO is accountable for the whole picture: which channel gets the next dollar, how ads and email work together, and whether growth is actually profitable. If you want one senior person owning results, go fractional. With me you get both, because I also do the execution.
Usually when revenue is growing but nobody senior owns marketing: the founder is stretched, results swing month to month, and agencies report good platform numbers while the bank account says otherwise. That is the point where an experienced operator pays for themselves.
Yes. I work with Shopify and DTC brands across the US and Canada, on North American business hours. See my page for Canadian Shopify brands.
Yes. I can direct your current agency, designers and freelancers, set their priorities and hold them to results, or take channels in-house to me where that is cheaper and faster.
It starts with a free 60-minute call. If it is a fit, the audit usually begins within a couple of weeks, depending on availability. I take a small number of brands at a time on purpose.
Same operator behind all of it. Pick what fits where you are.
Done with you. An operator who has built, sold and still runs stores, checking your calls on ads, email and growth.
Mentorship →Facebook and Instagram ads run personally by a senior operator. Real ROAS lifts, real dashboards.
Meta ads →Audits and flow rebuilds that have taken email from about 15% to the 30% range of revenue.
Klaviyo →Sixty minutes, one-on-one, no cost and no obligation. Bring your numbers and I will tell you what I would do with them.
